Our ministry was built on the truth of God’s love and sharing the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ Jesus in a way that we believe embraces the ways Jesus taught us to manage. - Please pray for Evangelist Cal Jennings who was in the hospital Friday due to issues with his heart and blood pressure.
- Please continue praying for Evangelist Cal Jennings’ sister who has been in rehabilitation after having her benign brain tumor removed.
- Please keep praying for my family as we continue to mourn the loss of our father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, Raymond C. Neff who passed away one week ago yesterday and was memorialized on Thursday.

One who is continually suffering from loneliness that keeps them from peace and patience.
One cousin who is having a great many issues in their family, including two suffering cancer, other family issues especially difficult include several diagnoses that are a lot to process for them.
- Pray for the family, friends, and fans of Bob Barker, who passed away on Friday.
- Pray for those who have suffered from violent events, that they heal and do not have scarred psyches and that those who have lost their loved ones to violence find peace in the face of fear.
- Pray for comfort and solace to be shared with those who have said farewell to a loved one this week, known or unknown.
- Be thankful for each day we live as we do not know what
tomorrow brings.
- Pray for our nations that the voice of God be heard through the Spirit.
- Pray for our friends and families that their tomorrows bring blessings and
pray our own be the same.
- Pray for those suffering as a result of the terrors that have occurred just this past week around this world.
- Pray for our sick and wounded that they may heal.
Prayer: Father in heaven, our prayer today on this beautiful Sunday is to have Your Holy Spirit bring each of us the gifts of spiritual strength, joy and peace to our hearts, faith to our minds, and healing to our bodies, and souls this week and always. We pray for all members of family and friends who have health and other issues that are causing upheaval, sorrow, fear, and more around this world. We pray for those who have suffered unjustly for things they could not control. We pray for those who have lost faith and live in paralyzing fear and sorrow. We pray for the homeless and the jobless in this world. We pray for the hungry and the malnourished. We pray for the poor, weak, and sorrowful people in this world. We pray in thanksgiving for all the great gifts that You have given us, even if we don’t always realize they are there. We pray in hope and patience for those things that are worrying us in our hearts and minds. For each of these we pray in Your Holy Name, through our Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Amen and so it shall be.

Sermon: Today we are continuing chapter 8 in the scroll of Romans. This series of passages relates to freedom from fear. This is something Jesus shared many, many times, and we often forget that, God Himself shared that we should not fear. His angels all have shared the same. This is very important because faith should not be based on fear, but on hope and peace, as part of unconditional love.
Romans 8:15 KJV –For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
NIV –The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Paul draws influence from the words Moses wrote here in the Scrolls of Exodus and Numbers.
Exodus 20:19 KJV – And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
NIV – and said to Moses, “Speak to us
yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.”
Numbers 17:12 KJV – And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
NIV – The Israelites said to Moses, “We will
die! We are lost, we are all lost!
Paul adds to this with references from Isaiah and Jeremiah.
Isaiah 56:5 KJV – Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
NIV – to them I will give within my temple
and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give
them an everlasting name that will endure forever.
Jeremiah 3:19 KJV – But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
NIV – “I myself said, “‘How gladly would I treat you like my children and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation.’ I thought you would call me ‘Father’ and not turn away from following me.
Paul cannot forego mentioning our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His words. These are excerpts from the gospels of Mark and Luke.
Mark 14:36 KJV – And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
NIV – “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
Luke 11:2 KJV – And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
NIV – He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
Luke 22:42 KJV – Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
NIV – “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
I was listening to the eulogy for my father-in-law’s memorial service on Thursday with two separate pastors from the two long-time churches my father-in-law attended in his lifetime here. I heard a great deal of how my father-in-law took his faith more than a little seriously. He truly lived his life in service for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In these words Paul shares next, it epitomizes what Pops, as everyone knew him, was like for anyone and everyone, even complete strangers he saw only once in his lifetime.
Romans 8:16 KJV – The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
NIV – The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
Paul wants us to be the vessel to carry on the truth of God’s Word, as God has asked each human being on this earth to be. It may have been seen as a gargantuan task for a single human being. Remember, we are all the children of God. We are all the brothers and sisters of Christ. We are such through the adoption that Jesus ensured when He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again to live eternally in Heaven waiting for every one of us who has faith and exercises it in their lives or in the lives of others. Moses, Hosea, Jesus, John the Beloved, and the gospel writer Luke all have things to share in this regard.
Deuteronomy 14:1 KJV – Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
NIV – You are the children of the Lord your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,
Hosea 1:10 KJV – Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
NIV – “Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘children of the living God.’
Matthew 5:9 KJV – Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
NIV – Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Luke 20:36 KJV – Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
NIV – And they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.
John 1:12 KJV – But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
NIV – Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
Acts 5:32 KJV – And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
NIV – We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
Notice what Luke shares in the Acts of the Apostles? We are WITNESSES as the HOLY SPIRIT would also be. So, not only are we ourselves witnessing for the LORD, but our individual Spirit combined with the part of the Holy Spirit we each contain through Jesus, all together witnessing for Him while still here on this earth. Now, that’s an awesome thought. Don’t you think so? Here’s what Paul shares next.
Romans 8:17 KJV – And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
NIV – Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
What is Paul doing? He’s reinforcing the truth that we are “joint-heirs” along with Jesus Christ in order to reach the Promised Land, Heaven, with God, an eternal home at long last. This is what Jesus adds to this through the gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John the Beloved.
Matthew 16:24 KJV – Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
NIV – Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Matthew 25:21 KJV – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
NIV – “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Luke 12:32 KJV – Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
NIV – “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
Luke 22:29-30 KJV – And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
NIV – And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Luke 24:26 KJV – Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
NIV – Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
John 12:25-26 KJV – He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
NIV – Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
John 17:24 KJV – Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
NIV – Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?
Paul references the writings of Luke in the Acts of the Apostles, and his second letter to the church at Corinth.
Acts 20:32 KJV – And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
NIV – Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
2 Corinthians 1:5-7 KJV –For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
NIV –For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
Comparisons are always seen in the world. He’s rich and we’re dirt poor some people point out. He’s handsome or ugly. We hear all this in comparisons around this world. We often do not realize just how much we are prioritizing the seven troubles of vanity, envy, lust, enmity, wrath, shame, and doubt. Paul points out that this is simply pouring out suffering upon our individual and collective psyches. He’s one hundred percent correct in that theoretical supposition. Compared to the glory that waits for us with Jesus at our side, there is nothing on this earth that can compare. In heaven, money, stature, none of that matters. Faith, belief, unconditional love, hope, healing, those matter with much greater impact. Here is what Paul shares with the church at Rome.
Romans 8:18-19 KJV – For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
NIV – I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
Paul again references the Old Testament and New Testament for this. He reaches back to the words of the prophet Hosea. Then he jumps forward to the gospels of Matthew and John and the words Luke wrote in the Acts of the Apostles.

NIV – “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 25:31-46 KJV – When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
NIV – “When the Son
of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his
glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will
separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the
goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my
Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation
of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me
in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after
me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
John 1:12 KJV – But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
NIV – Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
Acts 20:24 KJV – But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
NIV – However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Paul adds to this with thoughts from his second letter to the church at Corinth.
2 Corinthians 4:17 KJV –For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
NIV –For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
Paul again points out that we are all human. We all fail at things. This is what he reminds us about here in his next verse to the church at Rome.
Romans 8:20 KJV – For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
NIV – For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope
Paul draws influence for this from the first Scroll in Scripture, Genesis, and in the words of King David and King Solomon in Psalms and Ecclesiastes.
Genesis 3:17 KJV – And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
NIV – To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.
Genesis 5:29 KJV – And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.
NIV – He named him Noah and said, “He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.”
Psalm 39:5 KJV – Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
NIV – You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.
Ecclesiastes 1:2 KJV – Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
NIV – “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”
Paul doesn’t let up on the lessons he is teaching the church at Rome. It is quite obvious that he is very concerned about the new Christians there. You can also see that he wishes he could be there to share his message from Jesus to each of them personally rather than in a letter. Here’s what Paul shares next.
Romans 8:21 KJV – Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
NIV – that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
Paul again shares influence from the gospel writer Luke in the Acts of the Apostles. He adds to that with influence from his first letter to Corinth, the Hebrew prophets, the second letter of Peter, and John the Beloved’s Revelation.
Acts 3:21 KJV – Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
NIV – Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
1 Corinthians 15:42 KJV –So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
NIV –So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
Hebrews 12:27 KJV – And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
NIV – The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
2 Peter 3:13 KJV –Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
NIV –But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
Revelation 21:1 KJV – And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
NIV – Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
Revelation 22:3-5 KJV – And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
NIV – No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
The last verse we share from the eighth chapter of Romans is this one.
Romans 8:22 KJV – For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
NIV – We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
Paul again draws influence from King David and the prophet Jeremiah.
Psalm 48:6 KJV – Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
NIV – Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor.
Jeremiah 12:4 KJV – How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
NIV – How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.”
Jeremiah 12:11 KJV – They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.
NIV – It will be made a wasteland, parched and desolate before me; the whole land will be laid waste because there is no one who cares.
Paul continues to draw influence from Jesus’s Word as shared in the gospels of Mark and John the Beloved.
Mark 16:15 KJV – And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
NIV – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
John 16:21 KJV – A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
NIV – A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
Paul reminds us that we are all charged with sharing His word with the many who are hungry to hear it. Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the
