Letters From God Written in Our Heart

Good afternoon, welcome to Covenant of Hope Ministries. My name is Rev. Laura A. Neff, the Rainbow Minister. The choice for Rainbow has to do with the fact that the rainbow symbolizes a promise made and one that can and will be kept. I made, long ago, a promise to God that I would do all I could to keep that faith within me. We are normally posted on Sundays for sermons and Wednesdays for studies. You can find these posted in the following locations.

- Keep hope alive in your prayers no matter the pain or strife we might suffer.

Prayer: Father in heaven, we thank You for this day and for those who are here to share it with us. We thank You for blessings You bring to each of us. We pray that You can remind us always what we should be looking forward to. We bring prayers for those who have been seriously ill. Help those who are working to fight serious illnesses the ability to find solutions. We pray for those who suffer all types of pain, that their pain be relieved. We pray for those lost, and those who mourn. We pray for all those who are victims of violence. We pray for patience. We pray for courage for those we love and care about, and ourselves as well. We pray for peace to reach out from the heart and be heard, felt, and understood. We pray that Your grace and love would fill the hearts of the many in this world. We pray all this in Your Holy Name through the Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Amen and so it shall be.

Sermon: Good afternoon. Today we have a new inspiration brought by the Spirit of God. This week it happened to be something uniquely special relative to writing. Now, there are many who say that the disciples and apostles wrote everything in Scripture. This is as opposed to God writing through their hands. Well, today we’re going to show God’s letters in short verses as portrayed in those very letters. We’ll start here.

II Corinthians 3:2-3 KJV – Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Well then, here we see something very interesting. If you recall the Ten Commandments as they were given to Moses, they were scribed on stone tablets by God. In the case of the New Testament they no longer needed visual proof as long as people looked into their hearts to find them.

This is something a lot of people will ask questions about. ‘How can God write a letter in our hearts?’ Well, we have to give him access to the mailbox. Now, that almost sounds crazy, but think about it this way. In today’s world the most familiar view of writing letters is a form of mail, whether it comes from the physical mailbox or the inbox in your email. God doesn’t need a piece of paper, an envelope, or a stamp. He also doesn’t need an email address. Though, it would be quite interesting to get that one from either direction. Here we’ll see another view.

Habakkuk 2:2 KJV – And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon the tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Here you see a physical view of God requesting something to be written in full view. There are many letters written in Scripture. Paul writes most of them. In a movie I watched yesterday, Letters to God, one person mentioned the book of Hebrews. He described it as a letter to Christians. Well, it wasn’t the first, and most likely hasn’t been the last. Most of those letters are written in our hearts.

Romans 2:15 KJV – Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;

Note this one, it shows the law written in their hearts. Then it adds how the conscience would realize this. Now, what does the mean show us? Well, in mathematics the mean is the center of the extremes from least to most. In other words, it is the balance we need in our lives.
Now that’s something to think about as we pray in the prayer that Jesus brought us.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Our mission for Covenant of Hope Ministries and Poetic-Expressions is not to exploit fear, but to conquer it, and overcome all that is created through fear together as the rainbow in the darkness.

This mission statement speaks of the rainbow in the darkness. Every time I would have a seriously traumatic thing happen in my life I would wake in the middle of the night. When I do I see a rainbow at the end of my bed, or even through the window behind my head. I’ll see that rainbow in a dark room even during the day. It will hover in the shadows and reassure me that God is with me.

Sermon: Good afternoon. Today we have a new inspiration brought by the Spirit of God. Often there are dreams, sometimes some quotes found, even friends or family that would bring that inspiration to life and the Spirit takes over. Here is what has been given to us today.
Faith is not easy to keep. It wouldn't be easy to gain, either. God worked very hard to show us what faith would be. He brought so many methods to do so, bringing people, even ourselves, out of situations as we prayed.
Faith is not easy to keep. It wouldn’t be easy to gain, either. God worked very hard to show us what faith would be. He brought so many methods to do so, bringing people, even ourselves, out of situations as we prayed about them and the method to get back to His arms. Today, after a very sorrowful week for my family, this view of faith, and hanging on to the fact you can regain it, would be found here in this verse.

Acts 14:22 KJV – Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Notice, confirm the souls of the disciples. What does it mean? The truth behind this would be that the faith exists within us. We just have to pull it out and have it lift us up, even while in the pits of despair, fear, pain, or anything else. Let us take a look at a very familiar view of gaining faith here in this verse.

Matthew 17:20 KJV - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

If we stop believing, can we start up again? YES! Everyone falls down. It isn't all that difficult to pick ourselves up again. All we have to do is try. When it came to the view of doing such, Jesus shared the mustard seed parable. A small amount of faith can do so very much, moving mountains for example. People ask, 'how in the world can this be?'. Mountains have many viewpoints. Mountains don't have to be the dirt and rock under our feet or in front of us. They can be our trials and tribulations. If we use our faith in the way God and Jesus taught us, we'll find that any problem is smaller and easier to overcome. Gaining the strength to bring our faith up out of the depths of despair and more would bring us that much closer to happiness and joy. After all, isn't that what we want the most? They are just two elements of love. Faith adds to the happiness, and joy, and they bring us closer to the righteousness of God's love. Now that's something to think about. as we pray in the prayer that Jesus brought us.

Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13 KJV)

Sermon:  Good afternoon. Today’s inspiration came through a tragedy in our family. Well some wouldn’t consider it a tragedy. Our faithful dog Little Bear died within days of a diagnosis leaning toward liver failure, liver cancer, or bone cancer. He suffered seizures for four days before he took his last breath. Yet, we held him, comforted him, through the death process, each of us sharing time with our faithful friend. There are many who wonder if our pets, or any animals, are shown in this light in Scripture. Well, they are in several locations. Let’s take a look.

Genesis 7:1-4 KJV – And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, male and his female.
Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and his female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

These days’ people keep all types of animals as pets. There are dogs, cats, mice, rats, hamsters, and larger ones like horses, sheep, goats, and so on. The fact that we have pets shows that we can have companions of various shapes and forms, human and animal. Like we do for our family and friends regarding food and drink, here we see where animals are included.

Psalm 147:9 KJV – He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

Notice, he gives to the beast and the birds who are hungry. This time we’re talking about God. He feeds any creature the grass, the trees, the worms, and more. If God is willing to feed anything or anyone, we should as well. Any creatures, big or small, would be included. Sure, we might not like to consider lions, tigers, or bears as a potential friend. Many don’t, in fact. In the news I have seen people who raised a lion, others who have raised chimpanzees, and so forth. These definitely don’t qualify as conventional pets. Yet, just like humans, these owners, caretakers of these creatures would care enough to protect them from hunger, fear, and exposure to the elements.

Proverbs 12:10 KJV – A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

People can be cruel to animals. The animals have been left out on the roadways, in horrible conditions out in barns or pens, even in a house that has been neglected for far too long. It doesn’t matter the type of animals either. There has been, in the news, dogs of all breeds, cats, horses, and more. We have seen this fact in the news with dogs, and many others. Over the centuries we have seen the cruelty toward elephants and the ivory tusks, and so on. The cruel nature of humans isn’t restricted to animals. We must consider murderers, rapists, thieves, and more. Yet here we go, the cruelty exists. Jesus warned us of it. God did as well. There are too many points of view in both the Old and New testaments. Friendship isn’t restricted to humans. When we lose one of our pets it is like losing family. Jesus said something about that. Let’s look here.

Matthew 10:29 KJV – Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

Notice how even the birds of the air, as seen in early views, are important to God as they are to Jesus. They are worth more than money. Our pets or the animals in the wild are worth our respect. This is one thing people don’t always realize. That’s why God gives us His Word, and Jesus confirms it.

Sermon:  Good afternoon. Today’s inspiration came very early this morning after waking up and just meditating on the past week. Perhaps the contemplation was needed to bring everything into focus. The Spirit of God brought me a trio of verses and their companions to go with them. Let’s see what is shared here.

John 10:9-11 KJV – I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Jesus is the door to a better life. Many of us seek that better life, and sometimes that would be in the wrong direction. This is where the false teachers come by. Notice, Jesus even would willingly bring thieves in to show them the way. This is what Jesus is all about. He is our salvation in so many ways. Let’s take a look at our next view.

Acts 20:29 KJV – For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Notice this, Jesus is now warning us that there would be those who will do everything to keep us away. There would be no sparing the flock, the people, His followers. He is the way, the light, and the life, as you recall. Even with the wolves we must remember to seek that, no matter what. Here is yet more that fits the ideal.

II Peter 2:1 KJV – But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Notice again the warning of the false prophets, false teachers we’ll encounter everywhere around us. Their heresies, or own opinions using doctrine over truth, will show in so many ways. That doctrine is a disguise. Yet many would use just that in their view of worship. God’s Word is more than that. His Word is more than something written. It is what’s between the lines added to it. We have to fill in the blanks with what we feel in our hearts. Then we will find the light that comes out of the darkness.

Isaiah 40:11 KJV – He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

The food we receive is the Word! He is the shepherd that brings us to that food. Notice this is leading us straight to the light of God brought to us through Jesus. He doesn’t lead us with a firm hand, but with a gentle one so that the younger can follow those who are filled with the knowledge He gives us.

I Peter 2:25 KJV – For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Even if we fall down, there are ways to get back up again. We can get lost in this great big world of ours, not just physically, but mentally, spiritually. Yet, there is always a way to get back to that path we should be on. No one path is the same, but the destination should be the same. The light Jesus brings us gives us hope in His love.
