Welcome to Covenant of Hope Ministries and our Sunday sermon. You will normally see us posted in written and live form on Sunday. I am Rev. Laura A. Neff. Our ministry was built on the truth of God’s love and sharing the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ Jesus in a way that we believe embraces the ways Jesus taught us to manage. We bring His Word to the many as opposed to the few, in order to continue the legacy created by the ministry of Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless us in the study of His Word today.

Prayer List: We have many on our prayer list. Some wish to remain anonymous, and others only wish to have their first names mentioned. Our prayer list grows or changes every week. This is our current list.

- Pray for all the fathers around this world, and remember our own Heavenly Father with His place in our lives as we continue to learn what faith is and how to share that gift.

- Please pray for Evangelist Cal Jennings who has finally been able to move out on his own after far too long. Let’s pray that his health and spirit continue to improve with this new living situation.

- Please continue praying for Evangelist Cal Jennings’ sister who has had a benign meningioma removed and has been undergoing rehabilitation. She has been doing well.

- Please keep praying for my father-in-law Raymond Neff, who is thankfully home. He is continuing to improve some, but there are still issues with his health as a result of the burns and other things due to his age.

- Please keep several friends and other family members in prayer for their trials and tribulations. They have each requested to remain anonymous for the time being.

Several who are having money issues.

One who is suffering from loneliness that keeps them from peace and patience.

One cousin who is having a great many issues in their family, including two suffering cancer, other family issues especially difficult include several diagnoses that are a lot to process for them.

One who has been recovering from walking pneumonia, strep throat and has injured their vocal chords as a result. May they heal well.

- Please pray for my friend Jeff’s close friend Buddy who had a heart attack a week ago this past Friday.

- Please pray for a sibling who has again injured his back badly enough to require more surgery.

- Pray for the economy around this world as inflation and supply chains suffer from extremely high prices for fuel and overly high demand.

- Pray for those who have suffered from violent events, that they heal and do not have scarred psyches and that those who have lost their loved ones to violence find peace in the face of fear.

- Pray for comfort and solace to be shared with those who have said farewell to a loved one this week, known or unknown.

- Be thankful for each day we live as we do not know what tomorrow brings.

- Pray for our nations that the voice of God be heard through the Spirit.

- Pray for our friends and families that their tomorrows bring blessings and pray our own be the same.

- Pray for those suffering as a result of the terrors that have occurred just this past week around this world.

- Pray for our sick and wounded that they may heal.

- Pray for all the fathers in this world. May they learn to be good examples for their children and grandchildren. May they be supportive of their spouses and their parents.

Prayer: Father in heaven, our prayer today on this wonderful Sunday is to have the Holy Spirit bring the gifts of spiritual strength, joy and peace to our hearts, faith to our minds, and healing to our bodies, and souls this week and always. We pray for our fathers far and wide, that they make good decisions for their families. We pray for family and friends who have health and other issues that are causing upheaval, sorrow, fear, and more around this world. We pray for those who have had serious medical issues in our families, colleagues, and friends. We pray for those who have suffered unjustly for things they could not control. We pray for those who have lost faith and live in paralyzing fear and sorrow. We pray for the homeless and the jobless in this world. We pray for the hungry and the malnourished. We pray for the poor, weak, and sorrowful people in this world. We pray in thanksgiving for all the great gifts that You have given us, even if we don’t always realize they are there. We pray in hope and patience for those things that are worrying us in our hearts and minds. For each of these we pray in Your Holy Name, through our Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Amen and so it shall be.

Sermon: We are continuing our study of the fifth chapter of Romans. Paul has a whole lot to say for the congregation there in Rome. Let’s get started with our first verses today.

Romans 5:10-11 KJV – For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

NIV – For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

I had to go back to our sermon last week and pluck Romans 5:10 to plant it here today to give us some framework to expand on what Paul is sharing through the chapter to the church at Rome. Sometimes we need to do a lot of research to find what God is telling us as we study the Word. It often takes several times reading the verses through before we understand the impact each verse has on our individual and collective lives. God’s Word is designed that way. We see this in all the supporting verses here.

1 Samuel 2:1 KJV –And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

NIV –Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the LORD; in the LORD my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.

John 1:12 KJV – But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

NIV – Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

John 6:50-58 KJV – This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

NIV – But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

The influence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is easily seen. Now Paul does this on purpose, as John the Beloved and the other Apostles and Disciples managed in theirs. Paul portrays this in other letters, in these two verses from the letters to the church at Corinth.

1 Corinthians 10:16 KJV –The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

NIV –Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 KJV –And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

NIV –All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Reconciliation is the ultimate goal that God intended since the days of Adam and Eve. He had every right to worry about humanity then, and even more so in the here and now. We have a lot of work to do for our own spirits and souls. This is the exact thought that Paul points toward next.

Romans 5:12 KJV – Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

NIV – Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

Sin, that ever-present errant stone that trips everyone up. Many know that sin is bad, and that there are varying levels of “bad”. We all have sinned. This is undeniable. That’s the reason God sent us Jesus Christ as a gift of atonement to repair the rift between God and each of us. Here we see the beginning of the plan that caused all of the heartache, pain, and rampant existence of the seven troubles of vanity, envy, lust, enmity, wrath, shame, and doubt. Remember, God only had one rule. Do not eat from two trees in the garden. Here is where He established that rule.

Genesis 2:17 KJV – But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

NIV – but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Here the serpent, a disguise Satan wore, coerces Eve.

Genesis 3:6 KJV – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

NIV – When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

As a result, God didn’t have a choice. He had to provide judgment. However, He didn’t just wipe Adam and Eve off the earth. He simply removed them from the Garden of Eden to prevent furthering of the temptation. Here we see the resulting discussion.

Genesis 3:19 KJV – In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

NIV – By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

There are many reasons to remind us about the earliest days of creation. Most of the time we need that reminder. James the Just, human sibling to Jesus Christ, has this to share.

James 3:2 KJV – For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

NIV – We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

John the Beloved adds to this with these words.

1 John 1:8-10 KJV –If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

NIV –If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Laws were created by God for many reasons. One of those would be because humanity doesn’t always keep those directives in mind as they go through life. However, those Ten Commandments frame a single directive, as several pieces of that same law. It is a law Jesus shared with everyone He ever met. It’s a three word directive. “Love One Another”, that’s all. But then, there will be those who ask, “How?” Jesus answered this question easily. He said, “Love One Another As I Have Loved You.” This is found in the gospel of John chapter 15. It is the sum of all the rules and regulations that started on the day after God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden. Paul continues with this.

Romans 5:13 KJV – (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

NIV – To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.

Again he references Genesis.

Genesis 4:7-11 KJV – If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

NIV – If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

These verses just continue to portray the seven troubles. Caine is jealous. Jealousy is joined to the hip with enmity and also with vanity. Paul is warning everyone that these are the very reason, that they, as we today, will have a hard road to walk if they can’t put away those behaviors. These next verses share how God had to do some seriously hard thinking in regard to His creation, us.

Genesis 6:5-6 KJV – And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

NIV – The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Genesis 6:11 KJV – The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

NIV – Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence.

Genesis 8:21 KJV – And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

NIV – The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

The last days on this earth will be quite different from when Noah was waiting out the flood in a carefully created cruise ship filled with his family and every animal on the earth. Paul reminds us of the things that will come to pass and the reason why in his first letter to Corinth.

1 Corinthians 15:56 KJV –The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

NIV –The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

He also relates with two references to John the Beloved’s first letter.

1 John 3:4 KJV –Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

NIV –Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

1 John 3:14 KJV –We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

NIV –We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

Death, the one part of life everyone is afraid of. You see this fact all through the world, portrayed in every form of media that exists. It doesn’t matter what part of life those who reach the end of their days on this earth it happens in every country and culture. It is inevitable, but there will come a day when that will be removed permanently. It’s up to each of us to interpret what faith means to us individually and collectively. Paul points this out here.

Romans 5:14 KJV – Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

NIV – Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.

Paul wants us to have hope. It’s very important that we realize the fact, yes, the fact, that Jesus wiped out eternal death and transformed it to eternal life. This is something that Paul puts front and center through every reference he draws from. Here we see more of those points of reference. In this case we see more of the jealousy, this time through Pharoah. He didn’t want competition from God of the Jews.

Exodus 1:22 KJV – And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

NIV – Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.”

Exodus 12:29-30 KJV – And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

NIV – At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.

God holds His people accountable. We need that accountability. It’s very important for us to understand. Each and every one of us is accountable for everything they think, say, or do. All of it, everything. Jesus stands with us at that judgment day. It wasn’t easy for God, or for Jesus either one. We have it easy, in comparison, because we have Jesus taking our sins away. Here are other supporting verses for Paul’s letter to the Roman Christian church. He draws reference from the prophet Hosea and his letter to Corinth.

Hosea 6:7 KJV – But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

NIV – As at Adam, they have broken the covenant; they were unfaithful to me there.

1 Corinthians 15:22 KJV –For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

NIV –For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:45 KJV –And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

NIV –So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

Paul shares something interesting in that last supporting verse. He shares the “first” Adam and the “last” Adam. Note the difference between them. One, the original Adam became a living being. The “last” Adam is all about “spirit”. Our bodies are temporal, they are connected to earth. Our spirits have no such tether. That’s why it is so important for us to grow spiritually. Paul adds to that with this.

Romans 5:15 KJV – But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

NIV – But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

The gift of eternal life was brought to us upon the ascension of Christ to the right of our Heavenly Father. Paul points out that the gift of the Holy Spirit is much more than we can fathom. In fact, it is the eternal gift of grace, proving that with Jesus we can do anything as the “Body of Christ”, the “Church”. Paul again draws reference from Isaiah, John the Beloved, the Acts of the Apostles, Paul’s second letter to Corinth and the Hebrew prophets.

Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

NIV – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

John 3:16 KJV – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

NIV – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Acts 15:11 KJV – But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

NIV – No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

2 Corinthians 5:14 KJV –For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

NIV –For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV –Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

NIV –Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Hebrews 2:9 KJV – But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

NIV – But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

Human beings need to feel justified. Yet, so many do not realize they have been justified in life already. His name is Jesus. His sacrifice justified our reason for still being in existence. This is what Paul shares here.

Romans 5:16 KJV – And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

NIV – Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.

The voice of reason. How many times have we asked, begged, pleaded to hear such a voice in our lives? Someone answered this question for me years ago, long before I ever even considered myself to be a full-fledged minister. There is ONE who has helped us recognize this voice of reason. His name is Jesus. He does so because He justified our existence. He did when He lived on this earth. He does so in Spirit every moment we breathe. Isaiah foretold this amazing ability that Jesus Christ possesses.

Isaiah 1:18 KJV – Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

NIV – “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Isaiah 43:25 KJV – I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

NIV – “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

Isaiah 44:22 KJV – I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

NIV – I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”

Jesus confirmed this. Paul and James spread the word to the many, as opposed to the few.

Matthew 6:14 KJV – For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

NIV – For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

1 Corinthians 11:32 KJV –But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

NIV –Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

Galatians 3:10 KJV – For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

NIV – For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”

James 2:10 KJV – For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

NIV – For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Our last verse from Paul’s letter to Rome today points out that we are afforded a life full of abundant unconditional love. We are afforded a fully spiritually blessed life because of the sacrifice our Savior Jesus Christ endured There are so many reasons we should count our blessings. The greatest gift Jesus left behind is “grace”. Paul points this out here.

Romans 5:17 KJV – For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

NIV – For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

Nothing proves how timeless Scripture is to this world more than the Word as spoken by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That’s proven here. It’s added to with the words Paul shared with Timothy as well.

Matthew 25:34 KJV – Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

NIV – “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

John 10:10 KJV – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

NIV – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

1 Timothy 1:14 KJV –And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

NIV –The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Each of us has to give everything we can to build up faith in our lives. Not only do we have to build ourselves up, but we have to build up the same in those who surround us in life. Now that’s something to think about as we pray in the prayer that Jesus taught us saying:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
(Matthew 6:9-13)
