Providing Unconditional Love In a World of Wickedness Must Include Remembering Jesus Every Day

Welcome to Covenant of Hope Ministries and our Sunday sermon. You will normally see us posted in written and live form on Sunday. I am Rev. Laura A. Neff. Our ministry was built on the truth of God’s love and sharing the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ Jesus in a way that we believe embraces the ways Jesus taught us to manage. We bring His Word to the many as opposed to the few, in order to continue the legacy created by the ministry of Jesus Christ. We wish that God’s truth will be shared within His words as brought to us by the Spirit as it fills heart, mind, and soul to be shared with all who enter here.

You will find us in the following location: http://www.covenantofhopeministries.blogspot.com

Prayer List: We have many on our prayer list. Some wish to remain anonymous, and others only wish to have their first names mentioned. Our prayer list grows or changes every week. This is our current list.

- Please pray for Evangelist Cal Jennings who has been suffering greatly with his health and his housing situation. May the solution that has presented itself be a beneficial one in many ways.

- Please continue praying for Evangelist Cal Jennings’ sister who has had a benign meningioma removed and has been undergoing rehabilitation. The family is overjoyed to learn that the tumor was benign.

- Please keep praying for my father-in-law Raymond Neff, who is still recovering, but is thankfully home. He is improving little by little, but there are still issues with his health as a result of the burns.

- Please keep several friends and other family members in prayer for their trials and tribulations. They have each requested to remain anonymous for the time being.

My dear friend JB has pneumonia and strep throat which have caused
damage to their vocal cords. Doctor’s orders, no talking for a while,
which makes doing her job difficult. Let us pray that the Lord takes
away the pain and the sickness to heal them fully.

Several who are having money issues.

One who is suffering from loneliness that keeps them from peace and
        patience.

One cousin who is having a great many issues in their family, including
two suffering cancer, other family issues especially difficult include
several diagnoses that are a lot to process for them.

- Please pray for my friend Jeff’s close friend Buddy who had a heart attack two weeks ago this past Friday.

- Please pray for a friend who is suffering from a lot of medical issues, one of which is being unable to walk.

- Pray for the economy around this world as inflation and supply chains suffer from extremely high prices for fuel and overly high demand.

- Pray for those who have suffered from violent events, that they heal and do not have scarred psyches and that those who have lost their loved ones to violence find peace in the face of fear.

- Pray for comfort and solace to be shared with those who have said farewell to a loved one this week, known or unknown.

- Be thankful for each day we live as we do not know what tomorrow brings.

- Pray for our nations that the voice of God be heard through the Spirit.

- Pray for our friends and families that their tomorrows bring blessings and pray our own be the same.

- Pray for those suffering as a result of the terrors that have occurred just this past week around this world.

- Pray for our sick and wounded that they may heal.

Prayer: Father in heaven, our prayer today on this blessed and beautiful Sunday is to have the comfort and love of the Holy Spirit bring the gifts of spiritual strength, joy, hope, and peace to our hearts, faith to our minds, and healing to our bodies, and souls this week and always. We pray for our family and friends who have health and other issues that are causing upheaval, sorrow, fear, and more around this world. We pray for those who have had serious medical issues in our families, colleagues, and friends. We include injuries to one person’s back, healing from burns, throat infections and vocal cord damage, depression, cancer, and so much more. We pray for those who have suffered unjustly for things they could not control. We pray for those who have lost faith and live in paralyzing fear and sorrow. We pray for the homeless and the jobless in this world. We pray for the hungry and the malnourished. We pray for the poor, weak, and sorrowful people in this world. We pray in thanksgiving for all the great gifts that You have given us, even if we don’t always realize they are there. We pray in hope and patience for those things that are worrying us in our hearts and minds. For each of these we pray in Your Holy Name, through our Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Amen and so it shall be.

Sermon: This week we begin our voyage into studying the fifth chapter of Romans. Paul has a lot to say to the church at Rome. Though he never managed to voyage to what was one of the largest hotbeds of hate, fear, and madness at that time. It was one of the biggest challenges for the Apostles to transform the entire Roman Empire from being polytheistic to being monotheistic as it is today. Let’s begin here.

Romans 5:1 KJV – Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

NIV – Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Listen to this again, “justified by faith”. Pure, true faith may start from a small space, but, if we nurture our faith in the right ways, it can grow like a fast field of flowers, or, as we reflected last week, the mustard seed, faith isn’t supposed to occupy just one teeny tiny portion of our being. Faith should exist everywhere in our hearts, conscious, subconscious and unconscious minds, spirits, and souls. This is what Isaiah shares.

Isaiah 27:5 KJV – Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

NIV – Or else let them come to me for refuge; let them make peace with me, yes, let them make peace with me.”

The gospel writer Luke shares these thoughts.

Acts 10:36 KJV – The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

NIV – You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Paul adds his experiences with the letters he sent to Galatia and Colossae.

Galatians 5:22 KJV – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

NIV – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Colossians 1:20 KJV – And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

NIV – and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Paul shares boundless amounts of his learning through Jesus and His teaching. It is obvious in all of his letters. This letter to Rome is no different. We see this in his words here.

Romans 5:2 KJV – By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

NIV – through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Paul brings just one verse from the ancient teachings of the Old Testament. In this case it is from the words of a long lost king. These words should stir up some memories in all of us as to what is the most important lessons to learn in our journey toward true faith. Don’t stoop to the levels of evil and wickedness. Close it off, shut up it’s voice and actions. I heard in a very good sermon by Joel Osteen yesterday about “not going there” and “staying on top of the foundational level of faith, up to the top of the walls as high as the walls of Jericho. Let’s remember that there is a better way. This is what Habakkuk has to say.

Habakkuk 3:18 KJV – Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

NIV – yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The gospel writer John the Beloved shares this.

John 14:6 KJV – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

NIV – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This world is full of examples of follow the leader. It is a choice to do so. This is something Jesus proved in that last verse shared by John the Beloved. The gospel was, and is, one of the most motivating sections of Scripture, because it is filled with “first person” points of view by the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. That is the best part about all of Scripture and its many writers. Most were directly contacted or in contact with God and Jesus. We see that reflected in Paul’s letters to the churches at Corinth and Ephesus.

1 Corinthians 15:1 KJV –Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

NIV –Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.

Ephesians 2:18 KJV – For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

NIV – For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Ephesians 3:12 KJV – In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

NIV – In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Paul starts his next verse with “TRIBULATION” and the fact we should count it toward glory. Now, for a great many, this word makes them stop and wonder what it really means. Grievous trouble; severe trial or suffering is just one definition. It also is defined as an instance of affliction or troubles. Now, we all know the seven troubles and what havoc they provide. For those who don’t remember the biblical seven troubles, they are: vanity, envy, lust, wrath, enmity, shame, and doubt. Listen to what Paul says here to the church at Rome.

Romans 5:3 KJV – And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

NIV – Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

Paul is referencing one of the most famous sermons that Jesus ever preached. That sermon is known as the Sermon on the Mount. Here are His words that day.

Matthew 5:10-12 KJV – Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

NIV – Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Now, remember in Paul’s last verse would only be part of the story he was sharing. Here we see the rest of that line of thought.

Romans 5:4 KJV – And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

NIV – perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Holding ourselves accountable gives us the ability to keep us up and away from the evil and wickedness all over this world we live in. It’s that accountability that will be noticed. No human is as perfect as Adam and Eve were at the beginning of existence. The same continues with humanity today without Jesus in our lives. Here is one of those reminders from the words of our Savior Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Luke.

Luke 21:19 KJV – In your patience possess ye your souls.

NIV – Stand firm, and you will win life.

Paul adds to this in a line from his letter regarding Philippi’s Timothy.

Philippians 2:22 KJV – But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

NIV – But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.

Paul also references the writings of the Hebrew prophets and James the Just, brother of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 6:19 KJV – Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

NIV – We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

James 1:12 KJV – Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

NIV – Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

There are a list of gifts within a gift with the grace and unconditional love that Jesus has for us. In the past two verses and this next one, those gifts are shared in his words.

Romans 5:5 KJV – And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

NIV – And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

There are a whole bunch of characteristics we can work on to grow more and more Christlike. Unconditional Love, as Jesus taught, contains these elements and more. Patience, Perseverance, Prudence, Peace, Character, Hope, Faith, and Grace just to start. Paul draws from Job, King David, and the writings of Luke along with his letter to the church at Galatia.

Job 27:8 KJV – For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?

NIV – For what hope have the godless when they are cut off, when God takes away their life?

Psalm 22:4-5 KJV – Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

NIV – In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

Acts 2:33 KJV – Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

NIV – Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

Acts 10:45 KJV – And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

NIV – The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.

2 Corinthians 13:14 KJV –The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

NIV – May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Galatians 4:6 KJV – And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

NIV – Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”

The greatest gift that God ever managed for humanity was a part of Himself who willingly sacrificed His life to save the ones He loves to this very day. We, none of us, would be here if it hadn’t been for God’s promise to never again destroy this earth to start over again. The strength of faith builds not on our own individual attempts, but with the acceptance of the Holy Spirit in our lives, the last gift that Jesus gave to us upon His ascension into heaven. This is what Paul is pointing out to us in this next verse.

Romans 5:6 KJV – For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

NIV – You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Without God, we have no one to pray to for forgiveness. Without Jesus we wouldn’t have the proper prayer to manage for hope, peace, patience, faith, understanding and wisdom. We have other prayers and other experiences to draw from. One of those is a direct ancestor to Jesus, King David, first king of the Jews. We will also see thoughts from Ezekiel, King Solomon, and Daniel as well.

Psalm 1:1 KJV – Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

NIV – Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

Ezekiel 16:4-8 KJV – And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare. Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.

NIV – On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised. Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!” I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew and developed and entered puberty. Your breasts had formed and your hair had grown, yet you were stark naked. Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign LORD, and you became mine.

Lamentations 1:6 KJV – And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.

NIV – All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.

Daniel 11:15 KJV – So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.

NIV – Then the king of the North will come and build up siege ramps and will capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will be powerless to resist; even their best troops will not have the strength to stand.

Paul adds to this set of thoughts with his letter written to the church at Galatia.

Galatians 2:20 KJV – I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

NIV – I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

In the days of the Apostles and the early churches, we have to understand that travel and transportation was tedious at best. It took days, weeks, to get from one town to the next. The further away they were, the more arduous the journey. Men, women, and children, all had to manage some gargantuan voyages. This is why, often, they were in caravans. With this, you’ll understand that these letters weren’t repeated with the members of the church. Paul drills his message home with this next verse.

Romans 5:7 KJV – For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

NIV – Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.

I’m sure we remember as kids playing the “I Dare You” game. We’ve seen and heard a lot of views of this three word taunt. We should feel that we are daring enough to prove our faith. Don’t prove it by arguing. Prove it by rising above the pettiness, the seven troubles that drag us down so easily. Jesus shares something in the Gospels of Matthew and John the Beloved that we should take to heart.

Matthew 13:15 KJV – For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

NIV – For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’

John 15:13 KJV – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

NIV – Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

1 John 3:16 KJV –Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

NIV –This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

Now comes the reminder of the greatest sacrifice ever managed. That is the moment on the cross at Golgotha when Jesus uttered the words, “It is finished”. That is a specific, well defined moment in the fledgling faith now known as Christianity. It is the moment when Jesus left the human part of Him behind to restore the balance between God and mankind. Paul reflects on this here.

Romans 5:8 KJV – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

NIV – But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

See what Paul says here? Regardless that we sin in some way every moment we live, because Jesus willingly was tortured, tormented, hung on a cross and crucified until He breathed His last, we reap the benefits. We are loved, not to human levels, but to God’s levels. That’s worth more than money can buy, occupies more space than every acre of forest, farmland, desert, jungle, or anything like that. It rises higher than the highest mountain humanity can climb, higher than any aircraft. This is why David speaks of our faith soaring on the wings of eagles and Jesus points out that there is a home for us in heaven. All we have to do is have faith and believe. We hear this sentiment through the words of Isaiah and Peter.

Isaiah 53:6 KJV – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

NIV – We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1 Peter 3:18 KJV –For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

NIV –For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

Remember, we spoke about being “justified” in our faith. This was managed in the shedding of our Lord and Savior’s very lifeblood. Imagine, just imagine, how much blood could pour from His hands and feet. How much poured out from the stab wounds to His head from that crown of thorns? How much poured out as he was beaten, flayed, whipped to the point of drawing blood? All of this before He was nailed to the cross. Imagine just how much it took out of Him as He carried that cross to where the soldiers hung him on it? Yet our Savior Jesus, He took every lash, every stab, every nail, so that we won’t die, but have eternal life. This is what Paul shares in this verse.

Romans 5:9 KJV – Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

NIV – Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

Paul adds these references to the letters for Ephesus and Thessalonica.

Ephesians 2:3 KJV – Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

NIV – All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

Ephesians 2:13 KJV – But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

NIV – But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV –And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

NIV –and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Our last verse from the scroll of Romans is more efforts to offer understanding of just how much the sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ means in the world then and even up to now, two millennia later.

Romans 5:10 KJV – For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

NIV – For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

We are offered “SALVATION” as a result of the death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven managed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, predicted long, long before the day of His glory. Relish that His glory rains down on us like a gentle rain that washes away our sin, our pain, our sorrow, our fear, all of it, for one reason alone. That reason is “UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.” We see peeks of that in these references Paul shares from the prophet Daniel and from his letters to Corinth and Colossae.

Daniel 9:24 KJV – Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

NIV – “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 KJV –And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

NIV –All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Colossians 1:20-21 KJV – And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.

NIV – and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

It is time to give each of those who has heard this sermon to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, right here. Now, that’s something to think about as we pray in the prayer that Jesus taught us saying:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
(Matthew 6:9-13)
