Be A Person First - A Sermon Revisited

Welcome to Covenant of Hope Ministries and our sermon or midweek study. You will normally see us posted on Sunday and Wednesday. I am Rev. Laura A. Neff. Our ministry was built on the truth of God’s love. It doesn’t conform to society’s wishes. This ministry shares the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ Jesus. Those who know me well will recognize that there are definitive differences in the creation of every sermon from this point forward. It is God’s will that has brought this to be. We wish only that God’s truth will be shared within His words as brought to us by the Spirit as it fills my heart, mind, and soul to be shared with my hands, but with His words alone.
You will find us in the following location: http://www.covenantofhopeministries.blogspot.com

Prayer List: We have many on our prayer list. Some wish to remain anonymous, and others only wish to have their first names mentioned. Our prayer list grows or changes every week. This is our current list.

- Please pray for Elder Cal Jennings who has been suffering greatly with his health. May the Lord bring his spirits up and help heal him. Pray also for his faith and that he might keep hold of it in his heart through God's love.

- Please pray for relief in the trials and tribulations for Sister Theresa and myself as we have had a great many over the past year and more.

- Be thankful for each day we live as we do not know what tomorrow brings.

- Pray for our nations that the voice of God be heard through the Spirit.

- Pray for our friends and families that their tomorrows bring blessings and pray our own be the same.

- Pray for those suffering as a result of the terrors that have occurred just this past week around this world.

- Pray for our sick and wounded that they may heal.

Prayer: Father in heaven, our prayer today is to have the Spirit bring clarity to each of our decisions. We thank You for that gift and the many more You have brought us. May our fears be drawn out of us. Help us to see the many gifts Your love brings and the unknown locations it might be found. May our pain and sorrow be eased. May peace be brought from our hearts and shared with others. May Your gifts of love shine through us toward others. We pray for the poor, the sick, the sorrowful, the wounded, and the frightened. We pray for the soldiers, the Samaritans, the children, and the rest. We pray in thanksgiving for every gift brought us. We pray that every tomorrow bring good things. For each of these we pray in Your Holy Name, through our Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Amen and so it shall be.

Sermon: This sermon is, as it was, an outside the box point of view. What should a true PERSON share? It doesn't matter if you are Christian or not, these are things you should share with each other.

Awe ~ Look in the face of a child as they learn or see something new. Their faces light up with awe and admiration.

Psalm 4:4 KJV - Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Beauty ~ In everything and everyone there is some form of beauty, just because it or they would be.

Psalm 96:9 KJV - O worship the LORD in the beauty of holineass: fear before him, all the earth.

Courage ~ It takes courage to be born, to live, to love, and to die.

Psalm 27:14 KJV - Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Delight ~ If there were no reason to smile, life would be far longer than any last mile.

Psalm 37:4 KJV - Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Expectation ~ Some would equate this to hope, or to living up to expectation. Yet, in truth, we should have an expectation of something new, whether exciting or not, every hour, of every day.

Philippians 1:20 KJV - According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body whether it be life, or by death.

Faith ~ just a tiny amount goes a very long way.

Romans 1:17 KJV - For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Gratitude ~ It doesn’t hurt to be thankful for the things you’ve got.

I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV - In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Honesty ~ Don’t pretend things are good when they’re bad, and don’t ask for sympathy when it isn’t warranted.

I Timothy 2:2 KJV - For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Humility ~ This is one of the most difficult ideals. It is very hard to be humble, no matter who we are, or where we live.

Proverbs 15:33 KJV - The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

Hope ~ This is one thing that goes with many of those listed. In fact, there are many here that could be combined. A world without hope is a place we don’t want to be.

Romans 5:4 KJV - And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Love ~ Let us remember that loving one another doesn’t have guidelines, party lines, divisions of faith, state, county or national lines, it is unconditional, ever present, the building block of all that would be listed here.

John 15:17 KJV - These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Patience ~ Like humility, one of the hardest to hold onto. Even if we’re steaming we can hold on to that ounce of patience in the midst of frustration. Yes, all of us need practice here.

James 1:3 KJV - Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Peace ~ You must share peace to have peace, it isn’t a one sided deal.

Psalm 29:11 KJV - The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

John 14:27 KJV - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Perseverance ~ To achieve anything, you must work hard to get it, and not be discouraged.

Ephesians 6:18 KJV - Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Prudence ~ Take care in the things you do, for someone is depending on that, and it might not be just you.

Ephesians 1:8 KJV - Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

Reach ~ Be willing to reach for the stars, and then find a way to do that.

Philippians 3:13 KJV - Brethren, I count not myself to be apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto things that are before;

Seek ~ The truth is, if you seek it, you will find that which you are seeking.

Job 5:8 KJV - I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause.

Teach ~ Give this gift, the gift of what you know, how you know it, and why you love it.

Matthew 28:19 KJV - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Understanding ~ If we strive to understand, perhaps we ourselves shall grow.

Philippians 4:7 KJV - And the peace that passeth all understanding, and in knowledge, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Voice ~ Don’t be afraid to open your mouth whether you agree or disagree, and don’t forget to close your mouth when you know it will run away with you.

Luke 5:36-38 KJV - And he spake also a parable unto them; no man putteth a new garment upon an old; if otherwise then both maketh a rent and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
But new wine must be put into new bottles, and both are preserved.

James 1:26 KJV - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is in vain.

Will ~ Share good will, because where there is a will, there is a way.

Luke 2:14 KJV - Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Ephesians 6:7 KJV - With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Yesterday ~ Give the gift of memories of yesterday, for those who will be born today and tomorrow, as a lesson learned is knowledge and wisdom earned.

Hebrews 13:8 KJV - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Zeal ~ Be enthusiastic about life and living, the things you are doing, and the ones you love. Remember, though, that there are dangers in being zealous. Repentance should be pursued by being zealous, as opposed to the opposite.

Revelation 3:19 KJV - As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Each of these are just bits and pieces of what true humanity should, and could be. These are things every PERSON should work toward. Sure, there are far more we could find. Nothing is written in stone, save the fact that today someone will be born, and someone will die, truth will be spoken and so will a lie. Now, there’s something to think about as we pray in the prayer that Jesus taught us saying:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13 KJV)
